Mt Gower, Lord Howe Island, New South Wales – Australia
When we’re lost in our daily routine, going through the motions of our everyday lives, we tend to forget what color is in its truest form. We see green, aqua, tawny, and slate as they appear on furniture, clothing, or wall decorations and think we understand them. Then one weekend we manage to get back to nature once again and we instantly realize we had no idea. Time spent in some of the world’s most beautiful places will do that and that’s as it should be.
This shot was taken on Lord Howe Island on a positively picturesque day that showcased Mother Nature’s most beautiful palette of colors in the most wonderful way. The viridians, cobalts, and mint greens of the ocean were especially electric as the tides gently ebbed and flowed. The purest ocean breezes ferried pristine white clouds across the sky. Just off to the left, a shoreline of craggy stone held the border between the sea and the bountiful greenery of the island just beyond.
