There are miraculous places on this planet from which the steadfast integrity and unshakeable stability of earth’s inherent nature can not only be felt and experienced, but captured. Terra Firma is my record of an autumn sunset at Stonehenge when Mother Earth’s very spirit spoke to me in such a manner. It was late in the season – that special time when you can almost feel the wheel of the year preparing to take those first steps toward the solitude of winter.
The deciduous trees that populated the area struck majestic, prideful figures against the steady foundation of the nearby horizon. Stonehenge’s mysterious Balancing Boulder stood witness nearby as if it was waiting patiently for winter to arrive. All together they stood as a group, engaging in a silent conversation as they bid good-bye to the setting sun and waited to greet the night.
