On June 15th 2014 Destin was invited to speak with Channel 9 surrounding his success as a Landscape Photographer. Ten’s of thousands of viewers regularly tune-in to watch the national television show.

“When Destin Sparks started working behind the counter of a Brisbane camera store, he didn’t know a lens from a lemon and he wasn’t interested.

But, in just four years, the 28-year-old has managed to create a business as a landscape photographer, travelling to some of Queensland’s most beautiful natural locations and earning up to $200,000 a year…”

After 12 months he threw it all in and moved to Brisbane, where he worked in sales for a franchisee of the same camera store.

Destin said that at first he didn’t have much interest in photography and would often listen to his colleagues talk about their enthusiasm for photography and or studies in the art…”

“Destin had no interest in photography when he started as a graphic designer and salesperson at a camera store. Surrounded by photography and camera enthusiasts, Destin was a fish out of water. When he quipped to a colleague that he could do better than his latest photograph, the bet started his photographic career journey.

A little bit of Gold Coast magic is hanging on walls across the world thanks to Landscape Photographer Destin Sparks, who has captured our slice of paradise…

He was working in sales in a Brisbane camera store with no real love for the job while his budding photographer colleagues would spend their weekends shooting and their weekdays comparing snaps.

“They would go out shooting every weekend and I was always left out,” he said. When a co-worker came back with a photo that got a lot of attention on Facebook, Mr Sparks made a “wisecrack” that he could do something better and headed out to try his hand.

“It didn’t got so well the first time. It wasn’t quite clicking. I month later it clicked and everything made sense,” he said.
